“ Beef Cheek 4 tender, super flavorful, too salty Pulled Whole Hog 3 not as flavorful or juicy ”
“ Finally got a chance to try L & L! I've had their burger on my list for about a year now, as I've been told it's one of the best in Austin. Chose to get that burger and that alone for my lunch on a beautiful Friday afternoon. The food truck is located at Cosmic Coffee off South Congress, which in an of itself is a beautiful spot to hang out, cowork, etc. The gentleman taking my order was very kind and excited to be giving me my first taste of this burger, and offered some extra pickled jalapeños and bbq sauce to accompany it. I got the burger exactly as it comes: Smoked Brisket Patty, cheese, grilled onions, pickles, and burger sauce on toasted potato bun. It's crusted in a pepper spice rub, and the overall texture is something I've never experienced before in a burger. Salty, smoky, savory, with a perfect crunch from the pickles. The bbq sauce was awesome, but not 100% necessary. I left full and satiated but not stuffed/uncomfortable as can sometimes happen with indulgent BBQ. Overall, really great Austin stop. *Note my friend's Chorizo was damn fine as well! ”
“ Great food! And reasonable price. We love the hash- it was so flavorful. Would highly recommend to come here. ”
“ This place is highly recommended and I will now be recommending it too! We arrived a little before noon and waited a solid hour (~20 people in line). We ordered drinks from Cosmics next door to hold us over while we waited. We ordered the 1 meat plate with brisket. The brisket had good flavor and a nice bark but I was hoping for more. It came with two thin slices. The plate came with two sides; we ordered the frito pie and kale slaw. Again, I was hoping for more for the price. The kale slaw was refreshing and it had a good amount of sauce. We also ordered the L and L Burger. Everyone in line was hyping it up and I know why!! It was so unique. It's moist and has a dry rub coating that brings so much flavor. I added some of the smoked jalapeños to it and omg delicious!! The smoked jalapeños were my favorite thing on the plate!!! They were spicy and smoky and so so good. The staff is very friendly and talkative. They fill your order before taking another which is different. It definitely slows things down but they want to make sure everyone's experience is memorable. We ended up sitting in the tent area because it was a bit windy but there's plenty of picnic tables to sit. ”
“ I had Frito Pie and L&L burger. The Frito pie was great. Service was fast (food truck). Great place to eat outside. Burger was not up to hype. It was good. That's all. ”
“ Leroy and Lewis Visiting Austin for the weekend and after smoking a good cigar decided it was time for late lunch. Stopped by this food truck. Picnic seating outdoors. Line not too bad. Orders are coming out fast. Seems pretty popular so I said, "Let me try them out." I tried the burger and sausage. Trust me, if they are out of Brisket, it is ok because the burger is made from the brisket and smoked then seared. Great flavor. The sausage is good. I like the beer bbq sauce over the mustard. All in all, good little stop. ”
“ I had never had BBQ before today. I've had (and made) things inaccurately 'called' BBQ, but today is the first time I've understood what it really means. I got here early at 11:30 and waited in line for an hour. No problem. The pit master worked the line, explaining the menu and their process, answering any questions. I was lucky enough to get one of the last 2 'bacon ribs' that they only make on Saturdays and serve until the limited supply runs out. This is a slab of pork belly still attached to the bone; slow smoked, cured, and then hot smoked with a bourbon/maple glaze. Simply unreal. Fatty, smoky, sweet, salty...everything you want it to be. Along side that I ordered the beef cheeks - smoked for 5 hours to create the bark and then braised in beef tallow for a further 5 hours. Incredibly tender and flavorful. The meats came along with pickled cucumbers and jalapeños as well as 2 sides; I chose Texas Red Chili Frito Pie and choripapas (potatoes mixed with chorizo, onions and peppers). The price tag was reasonable for the amount (and quality) of food I got at $80 including tip. The truck is located in the middle of a courtyard including a couple other trucks, picnic tables, and a full-service bar. Really cool space and worth a stop in Austin. It gets really busy and parking can be challenging, so arrive early. ”
“ Five star meal. Let's get into it- What to order: Beef cheeks, non-negotiable. Brisket is only available on the weekends. The L&L burger- I wouldn't have gotten this but regulars in line told me it was the move and IT WAS THE MOVE. One of the best burgers I've ever had. We didn't order this but they had burnt ends cauliflower which I appreciated since it's hard to get vegetarian options at BBQ. The line: We arrived at 11:10 AM, 10 minutes after opening. We were probably about 15th in line, maybe the 8th group. The line moves very slowly because they cut and serve you your food as you go. It took us around 50 minutes to get our food. Line grows as the day goes on but also seems to get a bit faster. I'd still get there early. The vibes: This is a food truck at Cosmic which means you get all the perks of Cosmic- plenty of seating, beers and drinks to order inside. Staff at the truck were friendly as well. ”
“ After reading through more reviews I regret not trying the beef cheeks. That said -- I was very satisfied with this meal. My first time trying, and doing so with absolutely no line at 7pm on Friday. Sorry was I at the wrong party? Don't care. The brisket is the goto of course and I thought it was great. Up there with some of the best I've tried. But what made this special to me were the sides. Let's focus on the braised cabbage (and sausage). Wow. A sensory excursion. An intensely savory broth marries with the lightly crunchy stewed cabbage, meanwhile hiding ample chunks of dense but mouth-melting sausage links. Some strong Euro roots in this I imagine but done with so much punch. That broth was perfect. Don't skip this one. An elevated bbq dinner found within the lovely vibes of Cosmic Coffee's food yard. I'll be back to try the beef cheeks. ”
